Maasai Mara

Situated in southwest Kenya, the Mara is one of the top wildlife destinations, not just in Kenya, but in all Africa.  It is a land of breath-taking views and abundant wildlife where game-viewing is excellent year round thanks to the over 90 different mammal species that are residents here.  Home to Africa's Big Five: elephant, lion, cape buffalo, rhino, and leopard, the vast savannahs of the Mara also offer opportunities to see cheetah, leopard, zebra, giraffe, hyena, gazelle, and antelope such as the topi and eland.

Perhaps the greatest spectacle of wildlife in the world is the Great Migration of 2 million wildebeest thundering from the Serengeti into the Mara, driven by the need to find new grazing grounds.  Crocodiles await their prey silently in the Mara River as the wildebeest race across to the other bank.  It is truly a breath-taking sight, filled with a cacophony of  sounds never imagined!
