Samburu National Reserve

The Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya boasts abundant wildlife including the rare Northern Five not seen in southern Kenya: Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx.  Hundreds of elephants amble so close to your vehicle you could touch them.  Lions prowl the reserve and the more elusive leopard and cheetah can also be spotted.  Wild dog sightings are thrilling and watching the gerenuk antelope stand on its 2 hindlegs to reach the leaves on the upper branches of a tree is a sight not to be forgotten.  Birdlife is also abundant with over 450 species spotted, including species categorized as being global conservation concerns or vulnerable.
